I’m hoping my recent blog post about why you should have you details photographed convinced you! If you still aren’t convinced, go read it again! I’m joking, but I’m not. They really are a big deal!

So I convinced you. Great, but now what? What are you supposed to bring? Well, I’m here to help you with that too.

Here is a list of things that are normally included in detail pictures. If you don’t have all of these, don’t worry! This is not a hard and fast rule. Bring what you have, and it will be great! And feel free to add anything to this list. If in doubt, bring it.

     Hers:

  • Dress
  • Shoes
  • Perfume
  • Satin or chiffon ribbon that matches your colors
  • Hanger for your dress. You’ve most likely spent more time on this dress than any other before. So why not make it extra special by having a special hanger for it. A wooden hanger or a velvet one would work great. You can also order lovely personalized ones on Etsy or other places online. Your wedding dress deserves to be photographed on something more special than a plastic hanger. One thing to watch, make sure the hook swivels so it will be easier to hang somewhere.
  • Full invitation, including the envelope. Bonus points if you have 2 copies! Why 2 copies? It gives us more pieces to style together.
  • Your bouquet if possible. Bonus points for including the bridesmaids as well!
  • 2 copies of your program
  • Some extra loose flowers and greenery leftover from your bouquet or centerpieces. These are very important for the detail pictures. It might be a good idea to purposely order a little more than you will use because I would hate for you to run out of flowers for centerpieces or bouquets because that I told you to save some for us! Also, if you are ordering your own flowers instead of through a florist, good chance there will be a few flowers you can’t use. We only need 3 or so flowers and a little bit of greenery. But if you have more extras, definitely send them too!

The groom’s details are also very important. It might not seem like a big deal, but if you have the bride’s details photographed and not the groom’s, it will seem like there’s a piece of your day missing. And most likely, he won’t have as many details, but don’t worry, that is totally normal! Here is a potential list of groom’s details. Again, if you don’t have all of these, it’s not a problem. And if you have some things that I don’t mention, by all means include them as well!

     His:

  • Cologne
  • Shoes
  • Boutonniere
  • Belt
  • Watch

If you are writing letters or notes to each other, or giving each other gifts that you want captured, include those as well, also anything else that is special to you on your day.

Well, there you have it! I hope this will help ease a bit of stress as you plan your day. Another tip, gather everything you need the week before the wedding, or at least a few days before, and put them all into a box. That way, when you need them, they are already together and you will save yourself a lot of stress trying to gather everything the morning that you need them!
