We sang till we almost couldn’t anymore. And then we sang some more!
Last weekend was the fourth annual Midsouth Anabaptist Music Retreat. Four church in Tennessee, including ours, take turns hosting it. They send out the music several weeks before so we can get familiar with it and then everyone arrives on Friday afternoon and we practice Friday evening, all day Saturday and give two programs on Sunday. It makes for a very intense and tiring weekend since you’re on your feet and singing most of the time but it’s always so much fun! This year there were 113 singers! Plus a waiting list! It hasn’t ever been that big before and it was so much fun singing with such a large group of people.
It was hosted in Paris Tennessee this year. My mom and I were singing and my dad went with too. Also two of my mom’s brothers and their families were singing and we all stayed at mom’s sisters place. It was so much fun to all be together!
Sunday afternoon, I went to a cotton field close to my uncle’s place, because I refused to go home without stopping there to take some pictures! We don’t have cotton fields at home, which is sad because they’re so pretty! I’m sure to people who see them every day, they can get old. But I thought they were lovely!

By the end of the weekend, our voices were tired of singing and our feet were tired of standing. But this has become a highlight for me. It’s so fun and rewarding to get together with a big group of people and sing all weekend! Hopefully this will keep going for years to come!
